Marc Andreessen is a well-known name in thenet tech arena. He is an entrepreneur who is now a venture capitalist who made billions. He is currently the co-founder of the VC firm in the blockchain sphere -Andreessen Horowitz. In an interview, he said that Web3 and its underpinning technology takes him back to the days when the internet was a nascent technology.
The rising adoption and increased development in the Wb3 arena are very much like the flurry of activity he experienced during the early tech years. He also stressed that he doesn’t make this type of comparison easily, and it is the first time he has ever said something like this. While the parallels between the two eras have often been pointed out by cryptocurrency enthusiasts, Andreessen has firsthand experience to say so.
He also refuted a lot of criticism which has been level against crypto by saying that many of the so-called “problems” are actually opportunities for entrepreneurs in this field. Andreessen also said that he believes that Web3 could easily be the missing link to the internet. It will bring sovereignty, trust, and financial utility to this unique ecosystem.
Andreessen’s company made the first investments in Instagram and even in a crypto company called Coinbase. The Coinbase investment was made in 2013 and since then, companies like Avalanche, Solana, OpenSea and others have also gotten investments. Just a week ago, Andreessen’s company announced the launch of a fourth crypto fund with an investment of $4.5 billion. This brings the total of Andreessen Horowitz investments in crypto business to a bit more than $7.6 billion.
