One of the most beloved footwear brands in the world, Adidas, has just announced that it’s entering the world of cryptocurrencies. To facilitate this, the company has partnered up with Coinbase, a world-renowned cryptocurrency exchange platform.
Just two days ago, The Sandbox, a virtual metaverse, posted a small video clip of the Adidas real estate on its metaverse. This is a platform where players have the ability to build, create, and own their gaming experiences, as well as earn from the same.
After the release, Adidas tweeted an official announcement confirming that it would be partnering with Coinbase. The latter also confirmed the news on Twitter by welcoming Adidas onboard.
Currently, Metaverse is a highly anticipated development in the digital world. On the same note, Adidas has purchased a piece of a virtual land on The Sandbox and named it ‘adiVerse’. This goes to show that the company will soon be offering virtual reality (VR) products.
NFTs are a blockchain-based token system for a collectible item or a piece of art, which also makes it easier to give a proper identity to the original creator. Falling into the NFT space, in the coming months, the company may soon be selling their famous sneakers and other branded clothing virtually.
While Adidas has not revealed too much about their plans with NFTs, other rival brands like Nike are also preparing to enter the metaverse.
Fans of Adidas, Nike, and other such brands are eager to see what comes next with regards to NFTs, VR, and more.
