Global e-commerce giant Amazon has launched AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner. It is an online role-playing game designed to make it easier for people to grasp cloud-computing skills. Users can create their own avatar to move through a virtual city, and help solve technology-related cloud issues.
Amazon said users will venture on a journey to help the citizens in town transform their city through cloud solutions. Cloud Quest will also help explain AWS’s services and categories including storage, database and security services, and computing. It will give a guide for building basic cloud solutions. Moreover, there is a YouTube video giving a scenario – a cartoon man approaching a user and saying “The server running my weather app keeps failing. Can you help me please?”
Basically, Cloud Quest teaches foundational cloud computing concepts. Learners get to zoom through with drones and collect gems to solve challenges in the virtual city. Users can earn points by completing Amazon Web Services simulations and puzzles. It will unlock new character styles, city themes, pet companions, and virtual items such as a unicorn pool float or a hoverboard.
Besides, Amazon has also launched other cloud training services to help employees advance their cloud expertise and careers. There is also its new initiative – an improved version of AWS Educate. It now features added interactive content and has removed the .edu email address requirement, making the program more accessible. Learners as young as 13-years-of-age can access hundreds of hours of free, self-paced training and resources. Plus, there are labs specifically designed for the new-to-the-cloud learners.
