American rapper Eminem is the latest A-list celebrity to have joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club. He purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for 123.45 ETH – almost half a million dollars.
To announce the purchase, Eminem has changed his social media handles to the picture of his Ape. Bored Ape NFT buyers are known to do this. Reports say that the rapper has also amassed about 15 NFTs on OpenSea under the alias Shady Holdings.
A Bored Ape Yacht Club member, GeeGazza had been trying to sell his ape to Eminem for months. GeeGazza finally sold the blonde ape to the celebrity. He said the sale becoming a reality is madness. He added that he is living in a simulation.
Meanwhile, Six – a creator-focused digital firm has taken kudos for the BAYC NFT sale to Eminem. It took to the microblogging platform Twitter to highlight that the firm secured the ape. The ape is now called the “EminApe”. The agency is known to have worked with other artists, including Wu-Tang Clan, Tycho, and Galantis.
Now, Eminem is in the same league as talk show host Jimmy Fallon and NBA star Stephen Curry who own an ape. The rapper said he is a huge fan and has been collecting everything from comic books to toys to basketball cards when he was a kid. Now that he is an adult, Eminem says nothing much has changed. He has tried to re-create some of those collections. He said that now he has added the Bored Ape to his collecting passion.
