Australian Rugby Team Forges Partnership with The LoveChain

According to online sources, the popular Australian Rugby team, St. George Illawarra Dragons, is reportedly going to launch its first non-fungible token (NFT) collection. Dragons is going to partner with the e-commerce marketplace and social media platform, The LoveChain, to launch the NFT collection. The NFT collection will mostly focus on the celebration of the St. George Illawarra Dragons club’s remarkable history. It will contain non-fungible tokens of legendary players of the team, including Graeme Langlands, Reg Gasnier, Johnny Raper, Frank Burge, Norm Provan, and more.

The first NFT ticket will be given during the 25th April game of Anzac Say Cup, between Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons. This will mark the first NFT ticked in New Zealand and the Australian world of sports. The CEO and Founder of The LoveChain, Adam Mazzaferro, said during a recent interview that he is excited to witness that the Australians are looking forward to adopting blockchain technology and other new technologies. He added that The LoveChain is looking forward to starting this new journey with the St. George Illawarra Dragons.

The chief executive of St. George Illawarra Dragons, Ryan Webb, also stated that with this move, the club is hoping to establish a better connection with its members, fans, and partners. It has been found that half of the Australian population is quite interested in cryptocurrency and its uses. There is also speculation that crypto might become a part of the Australian legal tender in the future too. Given these developments, it is interesting to see a Rugby team getting involved in the NFT space.
