Azukies, an Ethereum-based collection of hand-drawn, anime-style profile picture NFTs, achieved a milestone with the sale of a single Azuki for a record USD 1.4 million. The NFT collection’s anime-inspired designs have captivated NFT enthusiasts and holders across the world. Azuki was launched in January 2022.
Experts described Azuki as the most sought-after NFT project of 2022. And as far as the new projects are concerned, no one has come close to it. Azuki, in terms of trading volume, reigns supreme among NFT projects this year. The profile picture project is made up of 10,000 unique avatars, which come in a random assortment of visual elements and traits.
By releasing anime-inspired NFTs, Chiru Labs – the team behind Azuki has attracted a new class of potential holders known for their fierce loyalty. The Azuki project, during OpenSea’s record-setting month in January, was one of the marketplace’s most significant drivers. People are said to have competed to get in on the project. Moreover, it has surpassed Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks in terms of sales.
Twitter user trebooomin revealed that Azuki #9605 sold for 420.7 ETH, worth around $1.4 million, on the OpenSea marketplace. The purchase was made by Jason @Bitcoin4Freedom. The #9605 token was the most priced Azuki in the collection. Experts highlighted the sustained demand for the project as it made its first million-dollar sale. They said it’s always a “big deal”.
Shortly afterward, the floor price of Azukies doubled to 20 ETH, about $64,155.
