Beijing 2022 Olympic Games Jam, NFTs, and more

Olympic Games Jam: Beijing 2022 is the official multiplayer mobile game for the Winter Olympic Games, developed by Animoca Brands’ nWayPlay studio in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. The play-to-earn game is currently only accessible on the Google Play store for Android phones. The official release date of the game for iOS devices is yet to be announced. In the spirit of the Olympics, Cointelegraph tried out the newly released game and wrote a review.

The game’s flow is intended to resemble the real-life Olympics. It features real-time competition between players in winter sports mini-games with up to 20 gamers from all over the world until the champion is crowned. Slalom snowboarding, slopestyle snowboarding, and freestyle skiing are the some of the mini-games that gamers can play. Elimination rounds require players to earn their way through.

The game was created with the goal of encouraging fans to acquire and purchase Olympic NFT digital pins. Although there is no cost to play, there various gameplay tiers and complexities that need the accumulation of a particular number of tickets (green icons below) and gems (purple icons below) in order to progress. Olympic NFT pins, according to nWayPlay, create tickets that can be used in gem-rewarding matches.

The first step involves the creation of an avatar and giving it a name. At the moment, there are just four male avatars that players can choose from. As participants progress in the game, new outfits, accessories, headwear and gear become available. A country or region must also be chosen by the players.
