The world is presently witnessing the biggest war since WW2. Russia launched its invasion campaign on Ukraine on 24 February 2022. Soon after the invasion began, a lot of people began leaving their homes and started migrating to someplace safe. The ongoing invasion has caused a lot of humanitarian losses. Many people of all age groups, including children, have lost their lives and got injured.
This has raised a request for immediate humanitarian aid to help civilians who have suffered in the war. Binance Charity has announced a donation of 2.5 million USD of cryptocurrency to UNICEF, the UN body for the welfare of children across the globe.
The aid has come when the situation in Ukraine deteriorates with each passing day.
Binance is the world’s largest exchange platform for cryptocurrency. It was founded in 2017 in Hong Kong but due to China’s regulations on the crypto exchange, its headquarters shifted to Malta.
Binance’s main focus is on the trading of Altcoins. The exchange platform also enables its members to trade various cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE). Binance has recently launched the feature to trade in NFTs (Non-Fungible Token). The exchange platform has its own blockchain-based token called BTC.
Binance Charity is a non-profit foundation with its prime focus on blockchain-enabled philanthropy. UNICEF, on the other hand, is the special body of the United Nations (UN) which is devoted to the general welfare of children. The gesture done by Binance Charity will be very helpful in providing necessary humanitarian aid to the afflicted people during these raging war times.
