Bitcoin Price Forecast: BTC Holds Near $77K as Spot ETFs Shed $463M Into Fed Week

Bitcoin price forecast as spot Bitcoin ETFs see outflows into Federal Reserve week

Bitcoin (BTC) was trading around $77,000 on Monday after a week in which U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds flipped from a strong inflow burst to their weakest redemption stretch in months. Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $462.7 million in net outflows between September 8 and 11, according to figures cited by Crypto Briefing, reversing nearly half of the prior week’s almost $987 million in inflows.

Traders should exercise caution heading into Wednesday’s Federal Reserve decision. Markets were pricing an approximately 87% chance of a 25-basis-point rate hike at the September 16 FOMC meeting, a backdrop that has historically weighed on non-yielding risk assets.

Institutional demand cools after Labor Day

The outflow week followed a sharp contrast in early September. Crypto Briefing reported that spot Bitcoin ETFs had taken in about $730.9 million on September 3 alone. That bid did not hold. September 10 was the heaviest session, with about $282.6 million leaving the complex. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB accounted for roughly $164.3 million of that day’s redemptions, with Grayscale’s GBTC, BlackRock’s IBIT, and Fidelity’s FBTC also seeing meaningful outflows.

Bitcoin’s price over that stretch slipped from approximately $77,362 to about $76,816, according to the same report. Snapshot prints on Monday still clustered in the mid-to-high $76,000s to low $77,000s, depending on the timestamp.

The broader book remains large. Cumulative net inflows since the January 2024 launch still sit above $55 billion. A $463 million week is notable, but it is a small share of category assets under management, which trackers place in a wide $97 billion to $148 billion range.

ETH funds tell a different story

The same four sessions did not look like a wholesale exit from crypto. KuCoin’s September 14 market note cited about $197 million of net inflows into spot Ethereum ETFs over those days, including roughly $216 million on Friday — a rotation into ETH products rather than a clean risk-off stampede.

That split will matter after the Fed statement and press conference. If Bitcoin ETF creations stay negative while ETH products keep taking cash, the tape is still risk-on underneath the BTC headline. If both complexes redeem together, the bid is thinner than the ETH print suggests.

Bitcoin price update: range into the FOMC

On Monday, Bitcoin was holding above $76,000 but still short of a convincing reclaim of $80,000. KuCoin’s desk mapped near-term support around $76,000, with a more important downside zone near $75,000, first resistance at $78,000–$79,000, and a recovery confirmation area at $80,000–$82,000.

FXStreet’s Monday analysis, via TMGM, had Bitcoin stabilizing after a roughly 4–5% decline the prior week, with the 50-day, 200-day, and 100-day EMAs cited near $73,376, $73,049, and $71,201. More distant demand was noted around $66,500 and $62,300, with topside horizontal interest near $85,000.

If BTC loses $75,000 after the Fed, those EMAs become the next area traders will watch. A daily close back through $80,000 would argue that the ETF redemptions were a pause, not a trend change. Until one of those levels gives way, Bitcoin remains in a holding pattern into the most important macro print of the week.
