The popular NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club is the latest digital asset platform to help war-struck Ukraine defend itself from Russian invasion with Ethereum worth $1 million. The BAYC took to Twitter to announce that it has been inspired by its community members to make the donation.
So far, Ukraine has received a cumulative of over $80 million in crypto donations. The European country has received a high level of support from the crypto sector with crypto-based companies and platforms making substantial donations. BAYC has followed in the footsteps of its counterparts – namely Binance and FTX among others.
Ukraine’s official Ethereum address has a balance of over 2500 ETH, worth over $7 million. The total amount of donation, as per data from Elliptic, to Ukraine, is around $60 million. It is about $20 million less than Merkel Science.
Reports highlight that Bitcoin and Ethereum donations are at the top of the list. Donors prefer these two popular cryptos for donation. According to Elliptic, Ethereum donations are around 34%, while Bitcoin is around 31%. Donations have also been made in the form of stable coins such as Tether and USDC, which account for 17% and Polkadot is 15%.
