A hospital in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul is the first institution in the country to receive cryptocurrency payments. According to the Brazilian news source Livecoins, the hospital in issue is the Rolante Hospital Foundation (FHR), a large general hospital in Rolante.
FHR is the municipality’s earliest hospital. Patients of FHR will now be able to resolve their medical bills, pay for outpatient care, and purchase medications with cryptocurrency.
The city’s population is approximately 22,000, but it has become a hub for cryptocurrency adoption. According to the news source, approximately 120 merchants and service providers in the city accept Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies.
