A British dentistry chain, the Dental Design Studio, is eager to test the metaverse’s marketing potential of staking out an existence online. It is set to emerge as the first dentistry brand to venture into the metaverse.
The dental group has 15 branches across the UK and is now in the virtual world in the Sandbox. It plans to build interactive mirror images of its surgeries. Patients in the Dental Design Studio’s dental metaverse can sit in a dentist’s chair, get a consultation and enjoy virtual treatments. They can also talk to staff and watch dental hygiene videos. Moreover, users can create their own avatars and customize how they look.
These may sound very fun. And it’s educational as well. The Dental Design Studio says dental courses and lectures can be delivered online via the metaverse. It hopes to draw international audiences through regional surgeries.
Dr Jeff Sherer, the co-founder of the Dental Design Studio, said they have always been interested in technology and have tried to innovate in areas that will benefit their patients. The brand acknowledged that people have started to use the metaverse as a form of social interaction. As such, it came up with the idea to create a group of dental practices in the metaverse. Patients will get the virtual experience of going to the dentist in a different way.
Sherer highlighted that nervous patients, especially children, can see what the dentist is like from the comfort of their homes. This will prepare them for a future visit. Sherer believes that through the magic of virtual reality, they can sit in a dental chair and activate interactive content. They will learn how to take care of their teeth in a better way. He said dentists can get benefits by having their surgeries in the metaverse. They can create brand awareness and advertising opportunities in the virtual world. Furthermore, they can offer NFTs that provide membership perks in the real world.
