Cool Cats NFT project seals deal with CAA for licensing and merchandising

The creators of the Cool Cats NFT project have signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to explore potential licensing and merchandising opportunities. Some namely Cool Cat holders include Hollywood actress and producer Reese Witherspoon, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and celebrity DJ Steve Aoki.

Cool Cats and its spinoffs Cool Pets, through the collaboration with CAA, will expand the use of its characters across licensing and merchandising. This includes brand partnerships, animated content, publishing, and live events.

Colin Egan, the co-founder of the Cool Cats NFT project, highlighted that the world Cool Cats is building is full of imagination. It is full of just things to explore. Egan said it will be more of an experience than just a JPEG. Evan Luza, the co-founder, pointed out that people’s perception of Cool Cats solely exists in the NFT capacity. But it’s just the project’s launching platform. It’s for the brand. Luza revealed they want to take it in just about every avenue that Cool Cats possibly can.

Egan originally created the Cool Cats – he illustrated an early version of the cats in high school. Buyers, who purchase a non-fungible token from the collection, get non-exclusive rights to use the characters. As such, the co-founders of the Cool Cats collection still have right to use the avatars for new projects. Luza explained that the goal is to transcend the small niche that is just NFT, blockchain-centric, and expand the Cool Cats IP.
