Crypto.com has sealed a sponsorship deal with a women’s soccer team Angel City Football Club (ACFC). This is a milestone for the cryptocurrency industry as this is the first direct sponsorship. Crypto.com, as per the contract, is now the Los Angeles’-based team’s official cryptocurrency and NFT partner.
Kris Marszalek, co-founder, and CEO, Crypto.com, is very much thrilled to join ACFC as a founding partner. Crypto.com and ACFC have the same values and are committed to helping people attain financial independence. With this sponsorship deal, the platform is looking at increasing access and creating awareness about cryptocurrencies, Web3 technologies, and blockchain.
Julie Uhrman, ACFC Co-founder, acknowledged Web3 and cryptocurrency’s role in changing the world. She said the FC wants to ensure that women are part of this journey as creators and investors. Uhrman explained that ACFC’s partnership with Crypto.com was natural. Both want to level the leadership and playing field with digital assets. ACFC is excited about the partnership. It would use this opportunity to work and educate the community and players about cryptocurrency. Moreover, the FC will allow its players to use NFTs to create an engaging and deeper relationship with their fans.
Alexis Ohanian, ACFC’s Leading Founding Investor, said Angel City is committed to being a leader in women’s football. It believes in promoting innovation in an effort to take the game forward. This has driven the FC’s decision-making, from its community outreach to partnership deals. Ohanian, a crypto enthusiast himself, says ACFC is the first women’s professional sports team to a partnership with a crypto platform. He described it as a turning point for women’s sports. It shows women’s sports recognition and power.
ACFC and Crypto.com will concentrate on financial equity, community engagement, and social impact initiatives.
