Twitter is likely to have crypto payments added to the platform in the future. Elon Musk has told developers to create the microblogging platform’s payment gateway for crypto features to be added in the future.
Insiders said the payments service will back fiat currencies and will also accommodate cryptocurrencies. But clarity is being sought about whether the payments will support blockchain or crypto technology. Musk has been looking at ways to monetize and reimagine Twitter as a social payments platform. In November 2022, the platform registered as a payments business.
It was said to be developing a Coins feature to allow users to pay with fiat to receive virtual coins that can be redeemed to give users rewards for content, like Reddit. Moreover, users would be able to pay for Coins using the payment platform Stripe.
