Florida’s Clearwater Beach now has a crypto-themed restaurant called Crypto Street Restaurant. The restaurant’s interiors feature crypto-related quotes from the likes of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, Bitcoin symbols, and illustrations of the Dogecoin Shiba Inu meme. Crypto Street Restaurant owner Ricardo Varona says that there’s a purpose behind the unique decor of Dogedog – to get conversations on crypto started between customers.
The restaurant is housed inside the Residence Inn by Marriot at 309 Coronado Drive, and it opened its doors earlier in December. The space occupied by the restaurant was formerly Cousins Maine Lobster’s.
The menu of the restaurant consists of several American and Hispanic staples. However, their names have unique crypto flavors. For instance, Cuban sandwiches have been named Crypto Cuban sandwiches. There are Dogedog hot dogs and Bitcoin banana splits on offer as well.
Varona, the owner, said that the restaurant accepts all crypto payments. His hope is that it becomes a place where people can become aware about the cryptocurrency trend that’s currently sweeping the world. He also said that he had helped numerous customers to open their Coinbase accounts.
The idea for the restaurant was born in Varona’s mind during the pandemic when he started learning more about cryptocurrencies. When his son had spoken to him about crypto several years ago, he wasn’t aware of the emerging cryptocurrency trend. However, his drive for creating something fresh and unique during the pandemic led to the establishment of Crypto Street Restaurant.
While the restaurant has done some crypto transactions so far, there are still many customers who are hesitant to pay in cryptocurrencies, according to Varona.
