Decentraland’s decentralized Metaverse project, will unveil the virtual reality-version of Times Square through a New Year’s Eve party. The launch called the MetaFest 2022 NYE 2022 will run until 8 am UTC on January 1. It will be in Decentraland’s Estate 4 district.
The event will feature live music, rooftop VIP lounges, and new tokenized collectibles as well as wearable drops. There will also be live feeds of real-world NYE events across the world.
Simon Koster, the head of Real Estate of Digital Currency Group, said he has canceled most of his plans over the past weeks, but he will definitely attend the MetaFest 2022. Koster says he has never seen the New Year’s Eve ball drop in person. He shared that this is one of the main reasons the Digital Currency Group wants people across the world to enjoy the New Year’s celebration.
What To Expect
According to its official portal, the Virtual One Times Square will launch in Decentraland on New Year’s Eve. This will coincide with the MetaFest 2022 global party. Online party-goers can create a personalized avatar and explore the Times Square plazas with their friends.
To experience an uplevel New Year’s Eve, users have to connect a digital wallet and create an avatar. The avatar is basically one’s identity in the virtual universe. Users can opt for an avatar from an immense array of custom visualizations to make their character unique. If the user happens to have any difficulty or glitch, the Decentraland Foundation team will be at hand.
