Deepfakes have been around for a while but their latest target has been the TED talk that was delivered by Elon Musk years ago. In the current deepfake of that TED talk, the tech mogul seems to be promoting a crypto scam.
The scam boasted 30% of crypto deposits which seemed like Elon Musk was promoting them. They used the video of the TED Talk from the Vancouver edition held in April 2022.
Elon Musk also watched the video and confirmed that it is a deepfake. His position as an innovator and tech leader has made him the face of the crypto industry for some while now. He is a de facto name in the world of crypto and people have been taking advantage of this.
Cryptocurrency has been getting popular since 2020 and are now at its peak popularity. This means that the crypto space is rife with scams. They need to be addressed and regulated so that new people are not turned off from them.
Musk responded quickly and said that it isn’t him in the video and claimed that it is a deepfake. Since he acquired the Twitter Platform Musk has been more active on Twitter and has been dispelling things like these deepfakes.
He has been wanting to implement a free speech approach to Twitter and in recent times has asked more people to join in. A fierce supporter of cryptocurrency, Elon Musk is just one of the many tech moguls supporting the new DeFi trend.
