According to online news sources, famous American rapper Eminem has reportedly purchased a non-fungible token (NFT) worth around $462,000. The NFT token was part of the famous Bored Ape Yacht Club (BYAC) NFT collection. It has been found that the singer made the purchase on December 23, 2021, through the OpenSea NFT marketplace. He had reportedly spent around 123.45 ETH purchasing the BAYC NFT. The rapper has also changed his Twitter profile picture to that of a BYAC ape, who is seen wearing hip-hop clothing and a brown military-style hat.
It has been found that the owner of that particular ape (#9055) was an OpenSea user by the name of ‘Shady_Holdings’. This indicates that Shady_Holdings is Eminem’s persona on the platform. This is not Eminem’s first foray into the world of NFTs. As per news sources, the artist has purchased around 20 NFTs from the OpenSea platform. His NFT holdings consist of Superlative Apes #3880, Lil Baby Doodles X NFTs, and Ditaggdogg#1, which features a stencil image of the artist. The details of Eminem’s purchase were revealed when a member from Bored Ape Yacht Club called GeeGazza thanked Eminem on Twitter after selling him the NFT.
The Web 3 digital agency called Six had reportedly helped the artist in buying the ‘EminApe’. This agency had collaborated with many musicians like Galantis, Tycho, and Wu Tang on other such projects. Although Eminem is the latest to join the Bored Ape Yacht Club, there have been many celebrities who have purchased BAYC NFTs recently. These consist of names like Jimmy Fallon and NBA player Stephen Curry.
