Emirates is looking at building its brand experiences in the metaverse and launching its own set of NFTs. This is already in the working and is likely to be launched in the next couple of months.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, the chairman, and chief executive of Emirates airline and group, highlighted that Dubai and the UAE are blazing the way forward in the digital economy. They have a clear vision supported by practical policies and regulatory frameworks in areas such as virtual assets, artificial intelligence, and data protection.
The Emirates airline and group is excited about opportunities in the digital space for the future. It is committing significant investment in financial and resource terms to develop products and services by using advanced technologies to deliver on revenue, business efficiencies, and brand experience.
It should be noted that Emirates airline launched virtual reality (VR) technology on its official portal and app more than five years ago. It offers customers an interactive, 3D, 360-degree view of its cabin interior. The airline, in a statement, highlighted that this technology is compatible with all devices without the need for external applications or plug-ins. In 2021, Emirates became the first airline to introduce its own VR app on the Oculus store. It offers users cabin interior experiences onboard the carrier’s A380 and Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft.
Moreover, the Dubai-based company said Emirates strives to engage with industry partners on its Web3 strategy and recruit talent for its pipeline projects. Emirates wants to repurpose its Expo 2020 pavilion into a center for innovation, bringing in global talent to work on the airline’s future-focused projects, including Web3, metaverse, and NFTs.
