Franklin Templeton is eyeing Bitcoin and Ether trades

Franklin Templeton is a new entrant in the world of cryptocurrency investing although it has been dabbling with Blockchain technology for years now.

The 1.5 trillion USD asset manager is hiring for executing ether and Bitcoin-based trades according to some recent job postings. From a couple of recent digital currency-related jobs posted, it appears that a researcher and a trader would be joining its investments team. The expanding team is a part of the company’s Digital Assets Management division.

The Asset Manager is looking for a crypto trader

One of the job postings mentioned that the company is looking for a digital currency trader for the trade execution of many strategies. The trader would be using the most tradable and liquid crypto assets such as BTC and ETH among others.

The two new job openings look like the asset manager’s first entry into Bitcoin. It also appears that the firm has an increasing interest in digital currency as an investment asset category. The firm had backed a fund of Galaxy Digital in late July this year.

The planned crypto recruitment being made by Franklin Templeton appears to be more direct. Its candidates would be required to execute the firm’s crypto strategies and get associated with various Blockchain developer communities. The trader is also likely to be more responsible for coming up with new crypto products for the money manager and issuer of the mutual funds,

There is no clarity on whether the crypto trading of the asset manager will have any direct involvement with the coins or not. The job description mentions the candidate should have experience in futures markets and derivatives. The firm has remained non-committal in this matter.
