Smartphone manufacturer HTC has introduced its first device compatible with its metaverse platform. Called the Viverse phone, HTC Desire 22 Pro is preloaded with apps that let users access and manage their metaverse content, including crypto and NFTs. With the Viverse app, users can purchase NFTs in the digital marketplace and create their own virtual space. The HTC Desire 22 Pro is a follow-up to its 2021 HTC Desire 21 Pro.
HTC is taking this opportunity to capitalize on the metaverse. The device is designed to be the perfect companion to the company’s recently announced Vive Flow VR headset and is used to access Viverse. The headset can work with any Android phone. But it’s not entirely clear what the new device offers that is not available elsewhere.
An official platform revealed that the phone includes a digital wallet to manage crypto assets and also comes with a free NFT. Other sites say Desire 22 Pro’s specifications are thoroughly mid-range. The device is 6.6 inches, and spots a 1080 p display with a high 120 Hz refresh rate, and a hole-punch notch in its top-left containing a 32-megapixel selfie camera. There’s a 64-mp primary camera, a 13-mp ultrawide, and a 5-mp depth sensor at the back. Moreover, the smartphone meant for the metaverse is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor, with 8GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a 4,520 mAh battery. The device supports wireless and reverse charging, and runs Android 12.
Furthermore, the HTC Desire 22 Pro is touted as a powerful mid-range device. It doesn’t intend to challenge the top tier of iPhones and Android devices.
