Meta‘s Horizon Worlds now has 300,000 monthly users. Its executives made this announcement last week during a virtual update. The announcement said the platform now has over 10,000 worlds, an indicator how this tool has grown fast after it launched in December.
Growth of Horizon Worlds under Metaverse Push
Meta has been growing stronger and stronger in the VR category. It announced Horizon Worlds will now allow users to make and inhabit spaces after achieving the milestone of 300,000 active monthly users. Chris Cox, CPO of the company, shared this information last week during a virtual discussion. According to a report in The Verge, it shows the userbase metric of this app increasing 10 times within three months. Meta‘s Super Bowl commercial featured this app. The ad combined with the rise of new metaverse technology may have led to an increase in this app’s popularity and userbase.
Expansion Plans of Horizon Worlds
The company has plans to let more users enter this world even when they do not have a VR headset to experience its features. Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg had announced his intention to develop this app’s mobile version to let more people experience metaverse world. During an earnings call recently, Zuckerberg informed that while virtual reality will provide a deep immersive experience, other people can also access these worlds from their Facebook and Instagram apps. More features will be added to make metaverse contents accessible through these apps.
Currently, there is no monetization plans for Horizon Worlds but industry watchers expect Meta to start monetizing Horizon Worlds as it grows.
