India gets its first sports NFT with Dinesh Karthik’s famous last-ball six

About three and a half years ago, cricketer Dinesh Karthik led India to a triumphant victory of winning the Nidahas trophy. This winning moment is now immortalized into a NFT (Non-Fungible Token). Thanks to the partnership with Saurav Ghosal, a famous squash player, this iconic moment has been captured as the first ever sports NFT of India.

The NFT digital art, entitled ‘Six For The Win’ is available for auction to the public from October 12 till October 22. Bidders will need Ethereum cryptocurrency for placing their bids. The art includes an animation showcasing thoughts of Karthik as he was facing Bangladesh in the final minutes of the game.

Dinesk Karthik spoke on the NFTs creative concept stating that this incredible experience is a precious memory for the Indian team and fans. This video is the largest sports video on the YouTube platform in terms of number of views. He believes that relieving and sharing it from his thought perspective is amazing. Karthik and Ghoshal coordinated with their tech partners based in New York for producing the NFT art. The NFT art also features voiceover from Karthik.

Ghoshal believes that this NFT art is just the beginning of the sporting NFTs era in India. NFT has experienced huge success in the US and they are excited to be India NFT space’s pioneers.

You can’t break or exchange NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as they are stored on a blockchain, just like cryptocurrency. This way, they can’t be counterfeited as there is an accurate and precise history from the provenance onwards. This is the reason behind the increasing popularity of digital art.
