Jack Dorsey and Jay Z launch Bitcoin Academy to Educate People About Cryptocurrency.

Popular rapper Jay-Z and head of Block Jack Dorsey have come together to start a Bitcoin Academy in Brooklyn, United States. The academy sits at a housing complex and will offer free financial education programs. However, the course will be only free for people residing at Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses. It is the place where the rapper spent his initial years.

What does the academy intend to do?

The aim of this academy is to empower the residents by offering them financial education. The course covers Bitcoin as a means of getting financial freedom. Interested people can choose from free online or free-in-person classes at the academy. Lamar Wilson and Najah J. Roberts will be the instructors for these courses. Wilson runs a content website called Black Bitcoin Billionaire. On the other hand, Roberts is the CEO and founder of Crypto Blockchain Plug.

Classes will start from June to September twice every week. The participants of the program will get an annual data plan, MiFi devices, and smartphones. The academy is also slated to run a weekend program known as “crypto kids camp.”

As mentioned earlier, Shawn Corey Carter (Jay-Z) spent his childhood in a poverty-stricken neighborhood called Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. The rapper tweeted that Dorsey and he is creating this Bitcoin Academy to give back to the place where he grew up.

Incidentally, Dorsey and Jay-Z have collaborated in the past as well. Dorsey’s Block acquired Jay Z’s Tidal, a streaming music service in 2021. The duo intended to utilize it as a medium for NFT distribution. They have also invested jointly in Blockchain start-ups, such as Alchemy. It was started in 2021 for funding for Bitcoin development in India and Africa.
