Konami, a Japanese gaming company, is looking for professionals with its upcoming Web3 and metaverse project. It wants to build its own NFT trading platform for trading in-game digital items. Konami has been doing research and development to incorporate the latest technology into games and content. It intends to launch a service where players can trade their in-game non-fungible tokens through a unique distribution platform using blockchain.
As such, Konami wants professionals to work in the roles of system construction and service development to provide new experiences. The gaming company believes new technology, such as the NFT marketplace, will help expand its business. Moreover, Konami has several intellectual properties like Castlevania and Metal Gear that have the potential to bolster any metaverse ambitions.
The Japanese company has been keen on NFTs for quite some time now. It commemorated the 35th anniversary of its Castlevania series in January 2022 with the release of an NFTs collection, which had 14 pieces of artwork. The NFT sold for an average price of $12,000. But Konami did not get a good response. In fact, the gaming community wasn’t happy with the company’s decision. Some users denounced Konami’s move and advised it to look into other things.
Konami’s move into Web3 space amid the crypto slump is questionable. But it can also be that the gaming company expects a bounce back as crypto is a volatile market.
