Crypto mining firm Merkle Standard has partnered with Bitmain to build a 500 megawatt (MW) data center that can accommodate over 150,000 ASIC mining rigs. The facility will be built in a clean or ecologically sustainable manner and located in Eastern Washington, Idaho.
Ruslan Zinurov, a CEO at Merkle Standard, said the joint venture solidifies its strategic partnership with Bitmain. The company is excited to leverage its combined resources to develop the industry’s most efficient digital asset mining data centers. Zinurov highlighted that Bitmain’s carbon-neutral strategy makes it an ideal partner to grow Merkle Standard’s sustainable infrastructure initiative.
The crypto mining firm wants to oversee the facility’s development and operation and Bitmain will lead engineering on the site’s data development resources. It will also supply the mining hardware. Du Shisheng, Bitmain Mining Division chief, believes the developed infrastructure will exclusively support Bitmain equipment. The facility will be empowered with Bitmain’s latest technology in the offering.
The latest mining rigs will work alongside existing models S19J Pro and S19 XP. The mining rig has hydro cooling technology to increase capacity and thermal threshold limit of each unit. Bitmain and Merkle Standard are also planning an expansion for additional sites in the US. This will come about once the current project is completed somewhere in Q2 of 2022.
