Twitter introduced a new feature of NFT (Non-Fungible Token) profile picture to its other features. Similarly, about a week or so later, Reddit decided to test this new feature along with its other features.
Reddit is one of the most popular social media on the internet, with about 430 million monthly users reportedly in 2021. It is now running a test to apply NFT profile pictures, and this will permit its users to change their profile pictures to Non-Fungible Token with connected photos. However, no decisions have been made so far related to implementing this feature.
An authorized Reddit personnel told TechCrunch in an interview that they always try to explore new innovative ways to provide quality services to its users and Reddit community. At present, we are simply testing the new NFT avatars and confirming users. They also added it is a small internal test that we are conducting, no decision has been made yet regarding the development taking place or not.
Twitter has availed this feature to its Twitter Blue Subscribers on iOS so far. Recently Non-Fungible Tokens has faced retaliation by multiple gamers and Web2 developers. The next day of the launch, one of the GitHub contributors created a browser extension that immediately detects and blocks any Twitter account that has an NFT profile picture.
This is the first time that Reddit has been experimenting with NFTs for a while now. It even created a separate page for NFT affairs, and it’s called nft.reddit.com
