Eric Adams, the incoming mayor of New York City is of the view that lessons on cryptocurrency and the blockchain technology at large should make it to school curriculum. He believes that bitcoin has become the new medium of exchange, and the trend is rippling across the globe. As such, educating school children about the blockchain technology is a “must,” opines the mayor-elect.
New York City is already up and above many cities in the country for a number of reasons. But the vision of Eric Adams, if materialized, will surely transform the city into sprawling crypto hubspot. He concedes that explaining the concept of bitcoin in 30 seconds is a challenge for him, as it is for even crypto-experts. However, he did not specify whether the proposed crypto education was relevant to elementary school, high school or tertiary grades.
Adams strongly believes that he and his committee will be able to encourage New York City businesses to accept cryptocurrencies sooner or later. They will tread carefully so that they get it right. Interestingly, the mayor-elect said that he would accept his first three paychecks in bitcoin after taking office in January. He is also releasing a cryptocurrency specific to the city to compete with MiamiCoin.
The mayor-elect wishes to ensure that the city turns into a thriving center of innovation. Given how rapidly cryptocurrency is picking up, his vision is impressively revolutionary. We can only hope that this sort of innovation takes shape in the best way possible and aligns perfectly with the human spirit.
