Polygon and Starbucks, an American MNC chain of coffee houses, are set to partner in an NFT loyalty program called “Starbucks Odyssey”. Through this program, customers can purchase or earn digital assets, unlocking exclusive rewards and experiences. The NFTs will be collectible stamps.
Starbucks Odyssey’s aim is to onboard the existing customer base into Web3. The coffee chain had hinted at developing the Web3 experience in May when it revealed plans to launch a series of NFT collections to provide unique experiences, community building, and customer engagement. The Starbucks Odyssey is built on Polygon’s proof-of-stake (PoS) network. Starbuck’s one-of-a-kind loyalty program experience is powered by low fees and high transaction speeds on Polygon’s PoS network.
Customers and employees keen on digital collectibles can join the waitlist to get an exclusive invitation to the Starbucks Odyssey experience. Ryan Butz, the vice president of loyalty, strategy, and marketing for Starbucks, believes the technology is well positioned with the company’s sustainability goals. He said building Starbucks Odyssey using technology that aligns with the company’s sustainability aspirations and commitments is a top priority.
Starbucks took a thoughtful and thorough approach when evaluating which blockchain to utilize. It found Polygon’s fast, low-cost, and carbon-neutral network to be a perfect foundation for its first digital community.
