Prada is the latest to join the league of luxury brands like Balmain, Gucci, and Balenciaga interested in the world of crypto. The Italian brand will be launching 100 Ethereum NFTs this Thursday. The NFT collection will complement Prada’s latest Time Capsule apparel release.
Buyers will receive a free airdropped non-fungible token to go along with their physical merchandise purchase from the brand’s latest partnership with Cassius Hirst. Prada holds a monthly Time Capsule event, wherein a special line of clothing or fashion accessories goes on sale for 24-hours, on the first Thursday of every month. But this Thursday’s event will stand out as NFTs will be added into the mix for the first time.
There will be a total supply of 100 gender-neutral (unisex) t-shirts, button-down shirts, and polo tops listed for sale. These are designed by artist Cassius Hirst. The shirts and polo tops will come in one of two colors – white or black with Hirst’s trademark mask and brain scan designs representing unity. NFTs will accompany the shirts for extra exclusivity to each owner. Prada’s NFTs will be airdropped to the NFT address of the shirt buyer around the world. Holders would be able to receive additional Prada NFTs at a future date, as well as other perks and VIP experiences.
An official statement revealed that the GIF representation of the NFT will be a white or black pill capsule. It will be differentiated with a serial number linking them to each Prada shirt. This is not the first time for the Italian luxury brand to get involved with NFTs. It has earlier collaborated with Adidas to release an NFT drop. It has 3,000 tiled photos by Prada fans auctioned on SuperRare NFT marketplace which is a digital art market on Ethereum. Furthermore, it has an NFT community server on Discord called Prada Crypted. It discusses the applications of NFTs in fashion.
