Sorare Seals Deal With EPL for Ethereum-based Digital Player Cards.

Sorare, a blockchain-powered fantasy sports firm, will be minting Ethereum-based digital player cards on its platform in collaboration with the English Premier League. The firm offers fans the ability to mint, collect and trade various player cards with other users across a variety of NFT marketplaces.

Through the deal with EPL, Sorare will offer digital player cards to football fans. The company began to make moves within the Premier League network in 2019, signing West Ham United as its first English club. EPL and the fantasy sports company agreed on a four-year deal. Sorare has made an upfront downpayment to the League for licensing rights. The digital card sales will result in a percentage split between the company and EPL.

Sorare will mint digital cards of players from the EPL on the Ethereum blockchain. It has used ERC-721 token standard for its NFT player cards. Fans can collect and trade the cards, and use them on the platform’s free-to-play fantasy sports league. The EPL cards will be available for purchase on Sorare before its made available for trading on other marketplaces. Sorare’s platform will continue to be a proponent for connecting fans, players, and organizations with blockchain technology.

It depends on the underlying technology to connect users with their favorite clubs. Sorare welcomes it powering the next generation of sports fandom and entertainment.
