Victor Langlois, a transgender teen, earned about $50 million just by selling NFT versions of his artwork. The 19-year-old fell in the spotlight after selling five sets of physical NFT artworks for a total of $2.16 million in June 2021 through Christie’s auction house.
The NFT collection – “Hello, I’m Victor (FEWOCiOUS)” and “This is My Life” shed light on his childhood and gender transition. Victor, since then, has sold more artworks on NFT marketplaces. He emerged as a household name in the NFT space. Moreover, the teen artist holds the record for selling about $20 million worth of non-fungible tokens within 24-hours on Nifty Gateway. It was the third-largest sale on the NFT marketplace, as per Fortune.
Victor, in an interview, said it’s been hard for him to process, to be honest – growing up as a transgender kid. He was taken from an abusive household to live with his grandparents. The artist revealed that it wasn’t easy. He thought he would be safe but experienced more challenges. Victor said he was scared of coming out as transgender because his family was religious. The artist added that his grandmother couldn’t make sense of his decision to take up art as a career. He believes that she just wanted security.
With the success that he has received through his artwork and NFTs, Victor has no plans to stop. He said his dream is to draw.
