The name Satoshi Nakamoto is quite famous and is associated with the founder of the world’s largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. However, despite the fame of the name, no one to this day knows who the person behind the name is. Recently, Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk said that Satoshi Nakamoto is actually Nick Szabo, the famous crypto expert.
Musk said that Szabo is responsible for the majority of ideas behind Bitcoin, which makes it quite likely that the crypto expert is, indeed, the real Satoshi Nakamoto. The billionaire was in conversation with Lex Fridman on a podcast, where he also said that the secretive crypto expert’s theories are fundamental to Bitcoin’s creation.
This isn’t the first time someone has pointed the finger at Szabo for being Satoshi Nakamoto. However, Szabo has maintained that he is not Nakamoto, even though he has gotten used to the misconception. Over the years, Szabo has worked extensively in the smart contracts and digital currency fields, and he is one of the world’s most famous cryptographers and computer scientists.
Musk added that the crypto community should look at the ideas behind Bitcoin before the cryptocurrency was launched. He also said that Szabo had written about those ideas the most, which makes it possible for him to be the ever-elusive Satoshi Nakamoto.
Many around the world have wondered who Satoshi Nakamoto is. While some believe it’s Szabo, others are of the opinion that Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym for a group of individuals who developed Bitcoin. It’s unclear as to whether the world will ever know the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator(s).
