What happened
Washington was on the stage more than ever. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins took part in a fireside chat, and the Code & Country policy forum on 27 April featured Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel in a session titled “Code is Free Speech: Ending the War on Bitcoin”. The wider programme listed Senator Cynthia Lummis, CFTC Chair Mike Selig, Michael Saylor, BlackRock’s Robert Mitchnick and Czech National Bank Governor Aleš Michl.
Why it mattered
The presence of the SEC, the Justice Department and the FBI marked how far the US policy tone has shifted on bitcoin and on developer rights. On 28 April BTC Inc. announced that Bitcoin 2027 moves back to Nashville, at the Music City Center, from 15 to 17 July 2027.
Bitcoin’s builder crowd meets again in October at bitcoin++ Berlin, a developer conference on payments, and Lugano’s Plan ₿ Forum 2026 takes the policy debate to Europe in October.
